Your cord blood sample will undergo stringent standards of processing prior to cryopreservation, these are the steps taken in our lab to ensure the viability and usability of your cord blood stem cells.
Testing of the Sample
Both maternal and cord blood will undergo various laboratory tests to ensure its quality and eligibility for storage.
Processing with Sepax®2
The collected cord blood is processed using the FDA approved Sepax® 2 fully automated system for the efficient and consistent processing of cord blood.
All cord blood units are handled and systematically processed separately to eliminate the chances of a mix up.
Storage in Cryo Bags
Processed cord blood are stored in two cryo bags and hermetically sealed, before being systematically frozen, minus 2°C per minute to preserve the integrity of each stem cell.
StemCord stores your Cord Blood in a CryoStore™ Freezing Bag, the leading safe method to preserve blood components when cryopreservation is indicated.
StemCord uses the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) 128 Standard coding and labelling system, which was developed for blood and blood-related products to improve quality, safety and traceability in blood banking1
Vapour Phase Liquid Nitrogen Tanks
When the temperature reaches negative 180°C or colder, the stem cells are cryopreserved in Vapour Phase Liquid Nitrogen.
A Vapour Phase Storage Tank stores cord blood samples in the vapour created above the liquid nitrogen, rather than directly in the liquid nitrogen. Studies have shown this advanced technology eliminates the risk of cross-infection, as the cord blood samples do not come in direct contact with each other4.
Certification
StemCord provides clients with the cell count report and a certificate of successful storage for the Cord Blood Stem Cells.
Retrieval
The Cord Blood Stem Cells can be thawed and ready for immediate use when your family needs them.
Simply call our 24-hour hotline to process the retrieval.

ISO Class 5 Clean Room Processing
ISO 5 Certified Clean Room Processing & Explant Culture Method.
Your cord tissue is cultured in an ISO 5 clean room and an aseptic technique is employed to culture the umbilical cord tissue prior to cryopreservation.
An ISO Class 5 Clean Room ensures a sterile environment necessary for cell, culturing and processing.
